What is my purpose?

My purpose

What is my purpose, sounds like a philosophical question. For example there could be so many answers to that. I don't think we truly know our purpose till after we have lived most of our lives. A purpose can change so much I think. For instance a little kid's purpose is going to be way different from when they grow up, most likely.
I think that people can have not one but many purposes in life. Me included. I have a religious purpose. My religion purpose is simply to live for God and believe in him and help others to as well. I hope that all my life I will stay true to God. I see myself in the future trying to go to church every Sunday. Right now I am a Russian Orthodox, which really is pretty much like Luthern except Russian. I love going to church unlike a lot of people. Maybe it's because I go to such a different church. We have lots of religious holidays and I love celebrating them with my family and my church friends. There is so many holiday traditions at my church, like every year on Easter we stay the night at the church and have a service all night and then about four in the morning have a huge Easter Feast. I will never forget the drowsy but exciting Easter nights. I hope that I can pass this tradition to my kids. I think that the purpose to be a christian all my life is my most important purpose of all. My family has always been very religious and I plan to be the same. Not to the extreme though.
Another purpose in my life is to help people that are in need. I have always felt the need to help someone who need it out. I mean I am very compassionate about helping people, when those commercials go on about the little kids that are starving and have no one to take care of them It makes me cry every time, doesn’t help that there is always a sad song to go along with the commercial. I have always wondered how I was going to accomplish something so big. I think I found a way to do so though. I always have loved anatomy, in fact my favorite show is Grey's Anatomy and most of my favorite shows are medical related. When people ask me who I want to be when I grow up, without hesitation I answer, a surgeon. Although being a surgeon will take some hard work and effort to become I think it will be worth all the sweat and tears that I will put into it. The reason I want to work as a surgeon is because not only do I love anatomy and medicine, I also want to be a surgeon because it would be exactly what my purpose is. Helping those in need. I think being a surgeon or any kind of a doctor for that matter is the best way to help those in need. The ill and the dying can be saved by just a simple surgery and I want to be a part of that.

My third purpose is to do something to make a change in the world. To be known for something. Not exactly be famous, although that would be really nice too, but make a difference in the world. I want to leave knowing that when Im gone people will remember me long after Im gone. I feel like my life wouldn't be complete if I didn't make my mark in the world, if I somehow didn't make a difference in the world. Im not quite sure how I would make a difference but I think when the oppurtunity presents itself then I would go for it. Maybe help create something that would help thousands of people or invent something. There is soo many possibilities. I hope to take as many as possible.
Overall I am happy with my life purposes. I hope that I never lose sight of whats important and what I want out of life. I really do believe that we won’t truly know our life purpose till our lives are almost done, kind of like a life reflecting thing, but these life purposes are what I hope that I look back on when I am old and know that I was right and that they really were my life purposes.

Where am I?

Where I am

Aurora. Hamilton County. Nebraska. Midwest. United States. North America. Earth. That is my geographical location.

But the location is different than what makes up the location. I am where corn surrounds every country road. I am where 4,000 more people are. I am where everyone knows everyone and everything. I am where football games are a big deal. I am where the definition of a small town was born. I am where summers are spent at the lake and bonfires light up the night sky. I am where the stars are easy to see. I am where the weather has a mind of its own. I am where the good life is. I am in Aurora, Nebraska.

Although I live in a small town of Aurora, I spent my childhood in a much bigger place. I was born in Moscow, Russia. And Moscow is far from small, in fact it is larger than New York City just to give you some perspective. In Moscow I remember the biggest zoo ever, twice the size of the San Diego Zoo. I remember going there a lot, but one time in particular sticks out. It started out as a great day at the zoo, that is until I got separated from my mom and my brother. I learned a valuable lesson that day, if you are lost stay in one spot till found. Also in Moscow the culture is way different, people are more into arts and entertainment. For instance I remember during spring there would be dozens of artists with their canvases on the sidewalk and when people would walk by or stop and rest the artists would quickly draw them and then just give them the pictures, although some sold the drawings. One time an artist drew a picture of me as a tiger, I still have the picture, it was really cool.  I grew up around dozens and dozens of beautiful fountains, practically one on every street. I grew up around subway stations and trollies. I grew up seeing the beautiful old churches everyday as I went to gymnastics. Although I am in Aurora, in my heart I am still in Moscow.

Even though Aurora is a small town, I am glad that I live here. There is just some things that you can't experience in big cities. For instance you can go to the lake practically everyday in the summer. You can see the stars perfectly. You know everyone for the most part. And life pace is a lot slower, letting you take in more and relax. I love that about small towns but I think I am more of a big city person. I absolutely love the atmosphere. The rush of the people, and cars, and news. I love how there is always someone new to meet and not everyone knows you. This is why I want to move to a big city when I am done with college. I am thinking Seattle, Washington. Overall though I am lucky to be exposed to both the big city and the small town. I love both. It's like seeing both sides of the world and finding great things about both that you love. I am glad I am one of the few people that can experience both small and big. Because most people live all their lives in either a small town or a big city and are subjective to one or the other but never really get to appreciate both.

Who am I?

Hello, my name is Katee. No this isn't a written version of a speed dating conversation where I would flatly spill out everything about me in a two minute session, but in fact this is a blog, a blog currently about myself, and this blog will most likely maintain its focus on me. So lets begin. Who am I?
First, the basics. I am a girl, that lives in Aurora, Nebraska. I was born in Moscow, Russia. I lived in Moscow till I was about eight. Then I moved to Nebraska. I know what you are thinking...From Moscow to Nebraska?? Why? Well to make a long story short, my mom got married to my step-father who lives here in good old Nebraska. Yay! I enjoy spending my time with friends and laughing is my favorite pastime. I like to think that I am a happy person, well at least most of the time, because everyone is unhappy at some point of their lives, it’s unavoidable. I have kind of a quirky family, I have three brothers, that’s including one step-brother, and I also have one little sister. My mom and one of my little brothers are also fully Russian, the rest are sadly not. I love my family and they helped shaped me into who I am today. Anyway I am a senior at Aurora High School, and this posting is actually for one of my senior classes, College Composition. I am involved in speech, one-act, school plays, and FCG. I also have a job after school, as a waitress for The Double R Restaurant. After I graduate from Aurora High School, I am looking into going to college possibly at The University of Washington State, where I plan to get into the medical school. I hope to one day become either a surgeon or a psychiatrist, not quite sure which yet. But I’m sure I’ll know when I get there!  Anyway this is the basics of who I am.
Well now that the basics have been covered, I am inserting an excerpt from our deep map legends that we wrote. I am inserting only the part that both questions and answers the question, Who Am I?.
Where is Picasso when you need help drawing your life on a large blank paper?  A large, white piece of paper staring at me as I stare at it, completely blank. How can your life be condensed to just a simple poster? But it has to be done. One thing is for sure there is three questions that I must answer through this poster, Who am I? Where am I? What is my purpose?

Who am I? The first question that stands out to me. The first thing I think is Russian, I am Russian. This is the base of who I am, the root of me you could say. But I am more than Russian, it’s what I achieved and what I believe in that really answers the question. So I began to draw. I knew what I wanted to draw, I wanted to incorporate the Russian flag and I wanted to include something that I enjoy doing the most that still shows who I am, because after all that is the question. I drew a theatre mask the one that smiles at the audience, because I love theatre, I love acting, and it has been an important part of my life, I have been participating in every production since I was in third grade. I chose the smiling mask because I believe that I am usually a happy, smiling, and positive person. Next I draw ribbons of the mask that you tie the mask with and I then know exactly how to accommodate the Russian flag, I color the ribbons with the colors of the flag. I know feel that the answer shows on the deep map of who I am.

My Deep Map

My life extends more than the poster though, in fact, I am much more than our deep map poster. I am the person who stays up all night watching the thunderstorm, the person who hates hot weather ( I mean anything over 90 degrees). The person who loves all the colors but red is by far the favorite. The person who loves to sing but is quite horrible at it, or so I've heard. The person who loves to wear skirts all the time. The person who tries hard to get what they want.  I am laughter, I am determination, I am happiness and joy, I am life, I am myself, I am Katee.
